etched bead necklaceEngraved Enamel Beads

Intermediate glass bead project.

I've fallen in love with the ancient dzi, pumtek, and etched carnelian beads. The simplicity of their design, their rich colors, and their worn, smooth finish are exquisite. (If only they were affordable!) Here, we'll recreate similar antiqued effects with glass, enamels, and acid.
TOOLBOX
  • Glass beadmaker's torch and related equipment
  • Glass
  • Didymium glasses
  • Mandrels and bead release
  • Various diameter metal tubes and dental tools
