2009 INTERWEAVE CLASS PROPOSAL FORM Please complete the proposal form below no later than the deadlines listed above.
Thank you for your interest in teaching at our event(s)! In completing your proposal form, please do not ask us to "pick up" any part of a proposal submitted in previous years. Proposals with such requests will be viewed as incomplete and will be rejected. We regret any inconvenience to you, but our automated system tracks each event separately, and picking up hundreds of pieces of information for different instructors from different events simply is not practical for us.
We recommend that you save your own electronic copies of your applications. You can do this either by saving the confirmation email we send you after you submit a proposal (the email is a text file of your proposal), or by creating your own text files with information that you may use frequently. In this way, you may pick up any repeated, lengthy descriptions -- such as bio, class descriptions, lists of required materials, items included in a required kit, and so on -- simply by copying the text from your own file and pasting it into this online application form.
Thank you very much for your cooperation.
All proposals received after the proposal deadline will be considered for that show only if space permits. Proposals must be sent electronically through this proposal form. Hand-written forms will not be accepted. Contracts for accepted proposals will be sent out on a rolling basis until all class slots are filled. If your proposal is not accepted, you will be notified soon after the classes are scheduled for that event. If your class is approved, some or all of the information you provide on this form, as well as images of your project and yourself, may appear in the published promotion and online for classes. We reserve the right to edit content for space or style. We will provide the following: 8-foot plastic covered tables plus chairs to accommodate students; 1 table and chair for the instructor; electricity. If you need to arrange for any special services once your class has been chosen for our show, (AV, easels, flipcharts, more tables/chairs, freight, etc.) please return back to this form and we will link to our Teacher Services page (coming soon) for specific information. Instructors are expected to bring or advise students to bring everything else necessary for their class: all tools, materials, and equipment, including individual lighting, extension cords, and anything else required to complete the class. Proposals will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed until class images are received. Images may be submitted electronically at the end of this form. See detailed instructions below in the photo requirements section of the form.

SELECTING CLASSES
There are many reasons for teacher selection. Great consideration is given to the past enrollment numbers of classes, and the forecasted or historic popularity of various projects and techniques. We may also try to give fewer teachers more classes, especially those traveling a distance to our shows. We receive hundreds of beautiful pieces for every show so if your class is not selected please don't take it personally. Be sure to add new designs and variations with more classes, and always be sure to submit truly great photos of the work, in order to increase your chances of being selected.
PHOTO REQUIREMENTS
Please read the following instructions carefully. Images are your opportunity to show us your work. The quality of your images is a major factor in reviewing your application and critical to the marketing of your class when printed in the class catalog. Prospective students are greatly influenced by the quality of your class photo. Classes with better photography tend to sell faster and better than classes with images of poor quality. It is to your best interest to submit a clear, detailed photograph of a finished piece to us.
Your photo should sell your class. We choose teachers based on submitted photos, because students will choose classes based on photos. Poor photos will not sell your class. Consider: detail, clarity and more detail. Download our fully detailed Photo Guidelines.
Take HIGH RESOLUTION digital photos AT LEAST 3" wide at 300 dpi. Use a tripod or prop the camera on a level, stable surface. Use the timer shutter release to further reduce the juggle that can cause blurriness. Use the macro feature. Use a plain light colored background that runs up behind your piece. Do NOT use heavily textured, wrinkled, folded or patterned backgrounds. Do not hang pieces from a tree or on your dog. Do NOT show fingers or hands. Use natural light. Do not use flash. Arrange your piece to fit as much detail in the shot as possible. Zoom in. It’s okay not to show an entire piece. But you can send two shots of a particular piece if you want to show the piece as a whole and the details.
2 images are required: 1 of your proposed class project 1 of yourself (head shot)
Images must be digital and in the format described below.
Images must be saved using the instructor name and class name (example: LName_WirePin1, LName_WirePin2, etc.) to be sure the correct image is used when printing the catalog and creating the online class registration system.
Digital images must be high-resolution, saved at 300dpi and a minimum of 3" wide (maximum size 8½" x 11") and may be submitted as an e-mail attachment. After you are finished filling out this form, e-mail your photos as attachments along with a copy of your class proposal receipt you will be emailed after submitting this form (next page). Be sure to put the name of your class and the Event Name in the e-mail if you don't attach your class proposal e-mail receipt.
