Description: Create a ring of many textures to wrap around your finger. Students will explore several techniques to create texture and patterns onto fine silver wire, shape and finish the ring into a chunky, but easily wearable ring. Additional shaping and basic metallurgy of fine silver will be explored in class.
Prerequisite: Basic wire working skills are helpful.
Materials Included in Required Kit: Fine silver wire for at least two rings, polishing materials, texturizing materials and cross-locking tweezers.
Students must bring these REQUIRED MATERIALS to class: Chain nose pliers, wire cutters, nylon-jaw wire straightening pliers, ruler, safety glasses, metal ring mandrel, rawhide hammer, steel bench block with pounding pad, heavy-duty household hammer, painter's tape, steel design stamps (there will be stamps in class to share).
