Objects and Elements- Creating Talismans Jewelry,

Description: Challenge what is commonly held notions of what is considered jewelry. Gain knowledge of my studio style, tools and techniques for altering sheet metal and incorporating personal mementos and found objects to create wearable works of art. Learn metal techniques such as hand hammering, shaping, stamping, finishing and a variety of oxidizing methods. Also learn a variety of appropriate attachments. Individual work and pieces are welcome.

Materials Included in Required Kit: Sheet metal, brass and copper, jump rings, sterling silver link, silver wire for closure, head pins, eyelets, etc. sandpaper and handout.

Students must bring these REQUIRED MATERIALS to class: Essential tools- tin snips, wire snips, needle nose and chain nose pliers, metal wire (18 to 26 gauge) Optional-If you have please bring flexible shaft drill or hand drill, 1/16 or 1/8 metal files, jewelry saw, bench pin and metal hole punch, center punch beads, tin scraps, found or small precious objects. Sheet metal.
