Technique: Lampworking

Description: This class will introduce students to working with hollow borosilicate beads. Day one will cover coil potting and shaping. Day two will cover pulling points, blowing bubbles, and flaring. We will also cover some basic tubing decoration and shaping, and inside out work. Students must be comfortable working with larger amounts of glass. Fuming with gold and silver will also be covered (subject to appropriate ventilation)

Prerequisite: Students should be familiar with basic lampworking techniques, and should be able to make beads, pull stringers, and be comfortable using hand tools.

Materials Included in Required Kit: Glass rods and tubes, special tools.

Students must bring these REQUIRED MATERIALS to class: Tweezers, hand held marver, glasses suitable for working with borosilicate glass (Aura Lens AGW-250 minimum recommended). Hot fingers or claw grabbers are helpful, but not required.
